You’ll be able to join a different Zoom session\, from a stationary place\, at a later date. \nDescription: \nIn this interactive workshop\, University of Alaska professor Dr. Sarah Niecko blends scientific insights with experiential exercises to examine the physiology of safety and connection\, and how our presence impacts both learning and the change process. Participants will explore how the way we enter the learning space shapes the environment and influences what becomes possible for learners. Attendees will also learn practical strategies to support their own regulation\, with the understanding that tending to our internal state is not separate from our work\, it is an essential element of how we support others. \nGoals: \nParticipants will identify one personal default regulatory pattern that occurs when stress arises\, apply one to two strategies to return to a grounded responsive state during facilitation\, and identify one change in personal instruction that could be made to facilitate learning. They will also leave with one specific strategy that can be implemented to foster safety\, curiosity\, and reflection in the learning environment. \nLearning Objectives: \n\nDescribe how instructor self-regulation influences the learning environment.\nIdentify common patterns that can impact the learning environment.\nDevelop awareness of their own regulatory patterns and how self-regulation can be used to promote learning.\nPractice simple\, in-the-moment strategies to return to a more grounded\, responsive state.\nApply these insights to create environments that support safety\, curiosity\, and meaningful reflection.\n\nDates and Times (EASTERN TIME) \nJuly 17\, 2025: 1:00 – 2:30 PM Eastern Time \nTime Zone Converter (Zoom also gives you the option to add it to your local calendar): https://time.is/compare

SUMMARY:Medications and Recovery: Let’s Talk About It*
DESCRIPTION:Register for this event \n*Repeated session. \nDescription: \nSubstance use disorder has been described as a chronic\, relapsing medical condition characterized by recurring periods of relapse and remission. Relapse risk remains high because long-term high-risk substance use causes lasting neurobiological brain changes that persist beyond detoxification. This session will provide an overview of medications used to treat alcohol and opioid use disorders. Participants will explore how these medications work\, why they are considered evidence-based treatment options\, and how they can support recovery by reducing cravings\, withdrawal symptoms\, relapse risk\, and overdose risk. The session will also address common myths and concerns about medication use and the role of medication alongside education and counseling. \nGoals: \nParticipants will learn about substance use disorders as a chronic health condition\, including the neurological changes that can contribute to relapse risk beyond detoxification\, learn about commonly used medications for the treatment of alcohol and opioid use disorders\, describe how medications support recovery\, and address common myths about medication use and understand the role of medication alongside psychosocial treatments. \nLearning Objectives: \nAt the conclusion of the session\, participants will be able to: \n\nDefine substance use disorder.\nExplain how medications assist in recovery from opioid and alcohol use disorders.\nDescribe common FDA-approved medications for opioid and alcohol use disorder and their mechanisms.\nIdentify how medications for opioid and alcohol use disorders integrate with behavioral interventions.\n\nDates and Times (EASTERN TIME): \nSeptember 18\, 2026: 9:00 – 10:30 AM Eastern Time \nTime Zone Converter (Zoom also gives you the option to add it to your local calendar):\nhttps://time.is/compare \nDetails: \nAll sessions are live-hosted\, screen-to-screen 1.5 hour Continuing Education Sessions (CES) with PRI Trainers. SUMMARY:The Power of Regret: What Can It Teach Us?*
DESCRIPTION:Register for this event \n*Repeated session. \nDescription:  \nAs people move through the Prime For Life (PFL) and Prime Solutions (PS) process people’s perceptions of the need to be present in these programs begins to shift and regret can be something that surfaces. Yet\, some encourage us to live a life without regrets. This session\, built on the work of Daniel Pink (2022) in his book The Power of Regret\, explores how we might harness this emotion to lead fuller lives without incurring what Brené Brown warns can be the toxic effects of guilt and shame. This session will look at what is regret\, what beneficial roles it might play in our lives\, and how might we harness these things and avoid becoming mired in it. \nGoals:  \nParticipants will recognize that regret is a common and essential emotion to learning from experience and that using it productively can assist in our growth. \nLearning Objectives:  \nAt the conclusion of the training\, participants will be able to: \n\nRecognize that regret is a common negative emotion that can serve a useful purpose.\nDescribe four different types of regret and what purpose these might serve.\nIdentify at least two tools for managing regret.\n\nDates and Times (EASTERN TIME) \nSeptember 18\, 2026: 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM Eastern Time \nTime Zone Converter (Zoom also gives you the option to add it to your local calendar):\nhttps://time.is/compare \nDetails: \nAll sessions are live-hosted\, screen-to-screen 1.5 hour Continuing Education Sessions (CES) with PRI Trainers. Through guided practice\, application\, and reflection\, instructors will strengthen their ability to connect with groups\, respond effectively to participant language\, ad confidently translate these skills into both in-person and Zoom settings.\nZoom settings. \nGoals:   \nParticipants will recognize that conducting virtual sessions is a skill set\, which can be developed like other practitioner skill sets and which can build on the capacities practitioners already possess. They will also feel more confident in their ability to do virtual work\, prevent problems and respond to challenges when they do arise. \nLearning Objectives:  \nAt the conclusion of the session\, participants will: \nArticulate three steps done before the session to prevent problems;\nDescribe three methods to respond to inappropriate content;\nIdentify three ways to use current skills to manage on-line challenges. \nDates and Times (EASTERN TIME) \nSeptember 18\, 2026: 3:00 – 4:30 PM Eastern Time \nTime Zone Converter (Zoom also gives you the option to add it to your local calendar):\nhttps://time.is/compare \nDetails: \nAll sessions are live-hosted\, screen-to-screen 1.5 hour Continuing Education Sessions (CES) with PRI Trainers. All sessions will be presented via Zoom. PRI is unable to award hours for sessions previously attended. \nPlease note that participants are responsible for ensuring online PRI sessions and the number of hours earned fulfill your system’s requirements. Credentialing requirements for online sessions stipulate all participants must (1) individually register\, and (2) log into the online session on their own device to received credit/hours for attending. Learners who participate in an online session via shared login will not receive a certificate. Learners are also required to attend sessions in full for credit hours to be awarded.  Participants will receive a survey email after the session and will receive a certificate once the survey has been submitted. The link to the surveys are also available on the instructor site under “My Trainings.” Note\, participants must attend the entire session. \nPRI supports low risk driving choices. Therefore\, we will remove anyone who is driving on a Zoom call hosted by our team. So as to not further distract\, we will not chat or verbally ask questions first. You’ll be able to join a different Zoom session\, from a stationary place\, at a later date.

Approximately 13 hours will be awarded and the participant will receive their training certificate after all online requirements have been completed. It is the participant’s responsibility to establish whether hours earned in PRI events fulfill credentialing requirements of affiliated agencies. We begin promptly at the time indicated. Due to the sequential nature of the training process\, please understand we cannot admit late participants. Total contact hours awarded will be stated on the certificate received by participants after the event. \nPlease note: attending the same learning event more than once\, even as a “refresher\,” does not meet the credentialing criteria Prevention Research Institute must follow to award hours.
