About This Event
*PRI is unable to award hours for sessions previously attended.
CES events are 1.5 hours in length. Participants will receive a survey email after the session, and will receive a certificate once the survey has been submitted. The link to the surveys are also available on the instructor site under "My Trainings." Note, participants must attend the entire session.
PRI supports low-risk driving choices. Therefore, we will remove anyone who is driving on a Zoom call hosted by our team. So as to not further distract, we will not chat or verbally ask questions first. You'll be able to join a different Zoom session, from a stationary place, at a later date.
Description:
In Prime For Life® we briefly present research which indicates that many people who have alcoholism or other drug addiction did not have mental illness or serious emotional problems first. This workshop will examine the complex relationship between substance use disorders and mental illness and emotional problems and why understanding this relationship is important. [This is an update to a session provided about 15 years ago.]
Goals:
This session will increase professionals’ understanding of the multi-faceted relationship between mental illness and substance use disorders. With this increased understanding will come enhanced ability to respond to PFL participants’ questions about this relationship.
Objectives:
at the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Identify three ways mental illness and substance use disorders relate to each other.
- Identify two reasons why understanding this relationship is important.
- Identify three responses to PFL participants’ questions about this relationship.
