A Holiday Message from PRI

Peace of the Season
I find myself thinking about peace this holiday season—for the world, our country, my community, my family, and me. That long exhale after a period of strife, when the body, mind, and heart quiet. I want that for us all.
Robert Fulghum offers, “Peace is not something you wish for, it is something you make, something you are, something you do and something you give away.” Peace is not passive, but active. We choose peace. To keep it, we must offer it to others. St. Francis captured it beautifully, “Lord, make me an instrument of thy peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love.”
As I wish you peace this Holiday Season, I am not offering a passive wish as much as a call to action. To extend compassion to ourselves – in all that we have done and left undone; and then, when we feel that peace, to spread it out – to sow love, not division. Let us be peacemakers.
Have a wonderful and peaceful holiday season!
